Recent flooding in Yerevan blamed on rain (video)
Hrayr Antonyan, Head of Communal Services Department at Yerevan Municipality, was asked today why the storm drain system did not operate during last week’s heavy rain which flooded subways and streets in Yerevan. In 15 minutes, the rainfall made 50 percent of monthly precipitation. This increased the volume ten times. The rain was preceded by hail, which broke and removed tree branches, covering the storm drain system. We cleaned up the broken branches and reopened the holes.”
