After exploitation the child couldn’t even imagine that escape was possible (video)
In 2016 10 cases of trafficking were revealed in Armenia. Three of them relate to sexual abuse. Six of them were subjected to labor exploitation in Russia, one was tried to be subjected to labor and sexual exploitation in Turkey. According to the official data, last year no case of exploitation of a minor was registered. Yet, the data of social organizations is different. “Now we work on such a case, the details cannot be published yet, as the investigation is still underway,” says Victoria Avakova, coordinator of anti-trafficking and health programs of “UMCOR Armenia” organization. The girl, with whom the case happened, was a child from orphanage. The children from orphanages and boarding schools are considered to be the most vulnerable and are more often subjected to exploitation. In terms of this there are many present day “Gikors”. People in “UMCOR” still remember the case of a child, who reached Yerevan from one of distant villages. “The child was very brutally exploited, and the minor couldn’t even imagine that there was possibility of escape, there is other life; the child was exploited even without putting pressure and being kept under lock.” People, who have financial problems and try to find solutions abroad, also become victims of trafficking. “We have had cases, when the family calls us and says that they have sent their child to Russia or the neighbor took him. We ask how old the child is, they answer- 21. The people are simply in such a situation that they believe in everything, they have lost the instinct for self-defense and send their children to Siberia, Yakutia.” Job in Russia: there are many such announcements on the internet. How not to be cheated and not to be exploited? Specialists urge people to surf the internet and find information about the organization. It is also important that a contract be signed with the organization before going. “Even if there is a contract, it must be read carefully; our people don’t read, they sign and then problems start.” Watch more in the video!
