On Wednesday, February 15, Paruyr Hayrikyan’s Union for National Self-Determination (AIM) has expressed a desire to join the Yelk (Way Out) alliance which comprises the Civil Contract, Hanrapetutyun (Republic) and Bright Armenia parties. “Considering the lack of time and the fact that the deadline for the submission of documents and lists of parliamentary election candidates to the Central Electoral Commission expires on February 16, I can say that there are a number of technical obstacles which disallow us from setting up an alliance with a new force or including a new force in the electoral alliance. Anyway, we were ready to include AIM representatives in the Yelk alliance under the ranked-choice voting and we made a corresponding offer to the AIM which was rejected,” Leader of the Bright Armenia party, Edmon Marukyan, answered Hayrikyan on Facebook, describing AIM’s offer as ‘untimely and technically impossible.’
