Opinion: Nikol Pashinyan heated up the autumn
The process of impeaching President Serzh Sargsyan initiated by Nikol Pashinyan heated up the autumn, says Alen Simonyan, a member of the Civil Contract initiative. “But we did not see the ‘hot autumn’ promised by the opposition,” he said. Karen Kocharyan, an expert in political technologies, is not sure whether Pashinyan’s initiative will succeed or not but he says ‘there is never been a change of power in Armenia.’ “The opposition has never come to power in the country and there are no prerequisites for it today,” he said. In reply to A1+ whether the Civil Contract might join the three opposition forces, Alen Simonyan said they do not exclude cooperation with other forces. “Only in case we know what we want, what we are going to do and what results we shall have. Otherwise, the cooperation is excluded,” he said. Mr Simonyan is convinced that the three forces do not have answers to many questions. “They do not take joint decisions. They only come to Liberty Square, make statements and then depart again.”
