Yeghia Nersisyan: Our efforts were not in vain (video)
Yeghia Nersisyan, a member of Pre-parliament civil initiative who was beaten up during yesterday’s protest on Ashtarak-Aparan highway, says he doesn't regret about the incident as the protest gave results. “Minutes ago I received a call and was told that the construction was suspended. So, our efforts were not in vain,” the environmentalist told A1+. Residents of Ohanavan, Karbi, Artashavan villages yesterday blocked the highway demanding to stop the construction of a hydroelectric plant in the community. Civil activist Gevorg Sahakyan is convinced that after the protest the police followed them. “Without a court warrant, plainclothes policemen followed us, stopped our cars and took us to the Police Ashtarak Department,” he said.
