Armenia's Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan received on June 26 the newly appointed Ambassador of Lithuania to Armenia, Erikas Petrikas.

The Armenian official congratulated the ambassador on the appointment and expressed hope that his activities in Armenia would give fresh impetus to the development of Armenian-Lithuanian relations.

"We underscore establishment of new ties and cooperation in all spheres, including the economic sector," said Mr Sargsyan.

In this context, the Armenian premier stressed the need for organising and conducting business forums and the drafting of a new agenda between the intergovernmental commissions of the two countries.

In his turn, the Lithuanian ambassador spoke about the prerequisites and the planned projects towards attracting investments.

Petrikas informed about Lithuania's assistance to Armenia's European integration in the margins of the EU Eastern Partnership and to the ongoing reforms in the country.

The parties also discussed cooperation in the IT sector and tourism and steps towards cementing cultural ties.
Petrikas also expressed Lithuania's assistance to Armenia on the path to European integration [within the framework of the EU Eastern Partnership] and in connection with the ongoing reforms in the country.

Tigran Sargsyan thanked Lithuania for its balanced position on the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, and the Lithuanian MPs for their initiative to form a friendship group with the Nagorno-Karabakh Republic.
