Villagers of hail-stricken communities closed road
Residents of hail-stricken Armavir province have blocked a section of Yerevan-Armavir highway demanding compensation for the damage caused by the hail. Ashot Ghahramanyan, Governor of Armavir province, is negotiating with the aggrieved residents on the site.
Residents of Arevik, Sovetakan, Shenavan, Haykavan, Getashen and Mrgashat communities claim that they will not open the roadway unless they talk to Serzh Sargsyan and Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan.
The recent hails have damaged the entire crop in these vulnerable communities. Many of the local residents have left their homes in search of work to be able to pay off the loans taken from banks for agricultural purposes.
