Armavia failed to pay off debt
The agreement between Zvartnots Aero-Meteorological Center and Armavia Air Company has not been fulfilled, Acting Director of the Zvartnots Center Pavel Manukyan told A1+.
Earlier the sides reached an agreement according to which the national carrier was to pay off its debt [of around AMD 100 million] to the Aero-Meteorological Center by December 26, 2012. However, Zvartnots failed to settle the debt within the promised time period.
"Armavia has turned into an oppressor that is continually exploiting us," says Pavel Manukyan.
Zvartnots Aero-Meteorological Center provides weather forecasts for the national carrier. In return, the air company agreed to pay the Center AMD 33 000 for each flight. The Aero-Meteorological Center operates in the territory of Yerevan's Zvartnots International Airport.
The conflict between Armavia and Zvartnots Center has been continuing for several months. Zvartnots had suspended Armavia's flights a number of times after the national carrier exceeded the limit for outstanding debts, but the parties had come to an agreement as a result of negotiations.
"We have problems connected with renting, but we cannot suspend the flights," Mr Manukyan told A1+.
