Serzh Sargsyan visits US Embassy in Armenia
Serzh Sargsyan today visited the U.S. Embassy in Armenia on the occasion of the U.S. Independence Day.
He congratulated Ambassador John Heffern, the Embassy staff and the American people on the 236th anniversary of adoption of the Declaration of Independence.
The Armenian leader also addressed a congratulatory message to U.S. President Barack Obama.
"It is encouraging to see that supreme values of mankind declared by the founders of your country in the 18th century are actual for peoples who are still fighting for independence, freedom, justice and equality," reads the message.
"This year we mark the 20th anniversary of Armenia's diplomatic ties with the US. I am proud to say that in these twenty years, our relations have developed and today they are at the highest possible level."
"Certainly, the reciprocal ties have a more profound history and mainly thanks to the efforts of the American-Armenian community that has bridged the two peoples. We remain deeply interested in the future development of relations with the US.
The Armenian people are grateful to the US for its support to Armenia ever since proclaiming its independence. Your country's efforts towards settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict are also worthy of great appreciation. I congratulate you anew and wish you and your people peace and prosperity," Serzh Sargsyan said in the message.
