Today is Army Day
Message of RA Minister of Defense Seyran Ohanyan to the families of the soldiers that died or have been missing throughout the 20 years of the RA Armed Forces
"Twenty years ago, the Armenian nation once again had to make history and lay the foundation for the struggle for the liberation of Artsakh and the independence of the Republic of Armenia. Through sacrifices, dedication and efforts, after 20 years, we can say that struggle was a success. Today, Artsakh is liberated, the people are protected, and the Republic of Armenia is an independent state and is developing slowly, yet with firm steps.
Dear compatriots, the Artsakh war was a test for the Armenians to affirm their dignity and leave a protected homeland for the coming generations. The people passed that test with honor, and that was first and foremost due to your sons, fathers and brothers.
Dear families of the deceased and missing soldiers that sacrificed their lives for the defense of the homeland and fulfilled their duties in service, it was thanks to the self-dedicated service of your sons, fathers and brothers that the Armenian people have the joy of living and creating in peace. The celebration of the 20th anniversary of the RA Armed Forces is first and foremost your celebration because the army has developed at the price of your most precious sacrifice. Unfortunately, we weren't able to save the lives of your relatives, but today, for their sake and for the sake of the work that they completed, it is our duty to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the Armenian Army that they formed, loved, cherished and protected by appreciating the past and having a correct orientation in future activities. Glory to those who devoted themselves to the Armenian Army!
I congratulate you on this celebration, wishing you health and courage. I also incline in front of your image, patriotism and mindset. We, the ones continuing what your relatives left, pledge to enhance the achievements that your heroic sons, fathers and brothers made by sacrificing their lives in order to leave the coming generations with the country of their dreams."
