ARMENIAN DEFENCE MINISTER HOSTS GUEST FROM EUROPEAN UNION
Support A1+!“Security is one of Armenia’s top problems. South Caucasus is very vulnerable region especially because of national conflicts. Karabakh conflict should be solved peacefully, through mutual concessions”, Armenian defence minister Serje Sargssyan said Friday at his meeting with East European Union Assembly vice-chair Marco Zakera.
Zakera, in turn, said Europe attaches great importance to stability in Caucasus.
The minister presented three key principles put forward by Armenian side.
First, Nagorno Karabakh no longer can be a part of Azerbaijan.
Second, Karabakh can’t remain isolated and needs to have ground border with Armenia.
Third, security must be ensured. Reliable security guarantees must be given.
Speaking on relations with Turkey, the minister said Armenia is interested in Turkey’s possible membership in the EU. Diplomatic ties with Turkey need to be established without preconditions.
However, it is clear that to settle all the issues Turkey should recognise the fact of genocide.
Zakera said he fully shared these sentiments and would say about that in his report.
