KOCHARYAN DOESN’T LIKE “A1+”

Politics

”I think you don’t comprehend the situation properly. There are 40 private Media in Armenia, 12 of them are TV Companies and only 1 of them is public”, President Robert Kocharyan said answering the question of Irish MP Moon who asked what was being done in Armenia to instill confidence towards TV and Radio National Committee.

According to Kocharyan, the author of the Law on “Television and Radio” is the outstanding representative of Opposition, a PACE deputy. Experts will discuss whether it is necessary to make amendments.

Robert Kocharyan said there’s no need to think that the law was passed for some reasons and mentioned the “A1+” issue: “A1+” was deprived of the broadcasting license as a result of a tender“.

Robert Kocharyan suggested to conduct a monitoring on Mass Media and to find how much the TV Companies are inaccessible for Opposition. “If they are accessible, “A1+” issue must be removed from all the resolutions”, he said.

By the way, Kocharyan informed the issue had been discussed with Jerzhi Jaskernia, monitoring group member and the reporter on Armenia.
