JOINING AS A GUARANTEE FOR POWER CHANGE

In the beginning of 2004 ”Republic” Party initiated joining the Opposition field for restoration of the constitutional order in the state.

This initiative seemed to fail first. But this week 4 main powers in Opposition voiced willingness to unite.

We were interested in the standpoint of Ara Sahakyan, ex-member of Armenian National Movement Party, ex Vice-Speaker of Parliament and “Armat” /Root/ social organization member.

-What do you think about the cooperation between ANM and “Republic”?

-I am for collaboration of the democratic powers for restoration of the constitutional order. The differences between the comprehensions for the independence period and the future of Armenia must not baffle the fighting for legal and democratic state.

In the history there are numerous examples of that national fronts were set to get rid of invaders or fascism menace in the name of greater values.

Establishment of such a front may give a real chance to do away with this illegal regime in Armenia like “Karabakh Commitee” which was set up for protection of the lawful demands of Karabakhi people and elimination of Soviet totalitarianism.
