ARMENIAN DEFENSE MINISTRY: AZERBAIJAN’S STANCE CONTRADICTS NATO’S SPIRIT
Support A1+!On Friday, Armenian Defense Ministry’s official General-Major Michael Melkonyan, speaking on behalf of the ministry at a news conference, commented on cancellation of the Armenian military participation in the NATO-staged events in Baku.
Michael Melkonyan said Azerbaijan is trying to attract NATO’s attention to Karabakh problem throughout last two years.
The official also said Azerbaijan’s stance contradicts NATO’s spirit of cooperation: NATO should make due inferences from that.
General Melkonyan reminded that in 2001 Armenian military took part in similar events taking place in Baku. Armenian leadership has already appeal to NATO in connection of the situation, he said.
Melkonyan told journalists that some statements related to the incident were already made at NATO’s congress held in Germany. Information of the statements is to be released upon Armenian delegation return.
