THERE ARE NO PROBLEMS BETWEEN ARMENIAN AND RUSSIAN DEFENSE MINISTRIES
Support A1+!”The aim of my visit is reconsideration of some issues over development, expansion and intensification of Armenian-Russian military relations”, Russian Defense Minister Sergey Ivanov said.
As a result of re-examination of several issues, Defense Ministers of Armenia and Russia signed 3 documents and approved 2004 Collaboration Program of 2 Ministries.
”There are no problems between the Defense Ministries of Armenia and Russia. There are just issues, which we have already discussed with Serj Sargssyan”, Mr Ivanov announced after signing the documents.
Both Ministers have discussed the issue of retraining the Armenian soldiers in the high military schools of Russia. According to Ivanov, being the only member of CIS Collective Security in Caucasus, Armenia is the most stable strategic ally of Russia.
As to the rumors over expansion of the Russian forces in Armenia, Ivanov said: ”The number of the Russian soldiers in Armenia makes 5000. The bases are well-equipped and there’s no necessity to expand them. Now I consider any danger unreal irrespective of where it comes from”.
Mr Ivanov assured that Russia aims to re-equip all the military bases in CIS territory, including Armenia.
