2002 REPORT ON STATE PROPERTY PRIVATISATION WELCOMED

Today Government has passed some decisions in agenda. It welcomed the 2002 report of 2001-2003 program on state property privatisation.

Ashot Markosyan, Vice-Head of governmental Directorate of State Property Management, introduced the key planks of the report. He thinks the report is one of the best ways to provide transparency and cause the public to be informed about the deals of the state as there are various attitudes and even positive ones to privatisation among the society.

Mr Markosyan assures that the given report won’t be gossiped about since it “tries to completely meet the transactions, concluded in the privatisation field within a year” .

90 out of the 280 companies, envisaged in 2002 program, were privatised. Privatisation process for the rest 84 is in action.

Revenue from 2002’ privatisation makes 3.366.767.000 drams. Most part of it was collected from privatisation of medium and large companies.

Commission over 22.6 of companies are the ones of Trade and Economic Development Ministry, 12.9 - Health, Culture Ministries etc.

Consumers, both home and foreign, will enjoy equal conditions, as Armenia is a member of World Trade Organisation.
