OPPOSITION ALLIANCE STARTS ELECTION CAMPAIGN

“Justice” alliance started its election campaign today. The alliance visited Aragatsotn province’s village of Nergin Bazmaberd as part of the campaign. After being welcomed by villagers the campaigners made speeches.

Before making his speech MP Artshak Sadoyan apologise to the village residents for the opposition failure to protect their votes at the presidential election held the last month. “We made all possible efforts, but came across the authorities boundless impudence”, he said.

This time, he said, the opposition would try to prevent any election irregularities and protect ballot boxes from stuffing even through clashes with offenders.

Some lack of enthusiasm was visible from the electorate side. Such a situation is due to the opposition failure in presidential elections, the opposition leaders explain. Despite insufficient confidence in coming parliamentary election, the province’s residents consider Stepan Demirchyan, Kocharyan’s key rival for presidency, as a real elected representative of the people.

Demirchyan urged people not to boycott parliamentary elections saying “our participation in the election doesn’t mean we accept results of presidential election”.

Opposition activist Aram Karapetyan said the alliance aims not only at ousting Kocharyan but also at changing the whole system.
