CONSTITUTIONAL COURT STARTS DEMIRCHYAN'S SUIT HEARING
Support A1+!Constitutional Court started Thursday to consider Stepan Demirchyan’s suit against Central Election Commission. Presidential candidate Stepan Demirchyan demands to declare presidential elections invalid.
Victor Dallakyan, the head of the parliamentary commission on state and legal affairs, and lawyer Ashot Sargssyan are Demirchyan’s attorneys.
From very beginning of the hearing, the Chair of Constitutional Court Gagik Harutyunyan warned that the sides have no right to use the court floor for any political statement.
Lawyer Sargssyan said he received answer to his inquiry concerning complaints and their discussion just in a day ahead of the hearing. “We find it a deliberate step taken in order to make us ill-prepared for the legal proceedings”, he said. The Demirchyan attorney pleaded to adjourn the hearing to April 7. He also came up with other pleas relevant to the case. The court sustained the plaintiff’s all pleas.
The court’s next session is scheduled for Saturday.
