PUBLIC TV COMPANY IS AT WAR WITH CANDIDATES FOR ARMENIAN PRESIDENCY

Aram Sargsyan, Democratic Party Chair and candidate for presidency of Armenia, is going to introduce a complaint to the OSCE observers in Armenia. He put in an application to CEC, demanding to provide equal conditions of struggle for all the candidates. If the requirement is not met, Aram Sargsyan will appeal to Court .

Public TV Company way of working displeased Aram Sargsyan. In his application to CEC Chair Artak Sahradyan Sargsyan expresses resentment over Public TV Company to praise Robert Kocharyan and to carry on a campaign for him , though pre-election campaign hasn’t yet begun.

Unlike this, Tigran Naghdalyan discredits and mocks at the candidates in Opposition, commenting upon their activity with scornful expressions.

As a result of such conduct, the clauses of both Armenian Election Law Code and “Law on Press and Other Mass Media ” are infringed, according to Sargsyan. Besides, the only TV Company, maintained by tax-payers’ sums, distorts both political field and public opinion in the pre-election period.

“There wasn’t such an information blockade even at Authorities of Armenian National Movement, criticised much” , Aram Sargsyan says.

He also thinks the situation at present is display of the panic mood of Authorities.

“It turned out there was no one among 100-200 people of the initiative group, represented in the Academy Hall, to head the pre-election headquarters. As a result, Defence Minister as well as the Secretary of the Council for National Security has been deprived of meeting his commitments for 3 months and nominated a headquarters head. What else is it if not a sign for panic?” , Sargsyan states.

He is sure Robert Kocharyan’s group will use all administrative resources of it to be re-elected .
