The meeting of the initiative group of some social organisations took place today. Under the 66 and 68 articles of Election Law Code, it approved the decision over nominating present president Robert Kocharyan as a candidate for the presidential elections in 2003 .

The decision was adopted unanimously by 287 members of the meeting leaders.

“I must thank for both putting froward my candidature and the warm and sincere speeches” , Robert Kocharyan said in his speech.

“To tell the truth, after having heard the speeches I thought myself to be a much better one than I considered myself to be” , he stated.

He also announced it to be a very important moment in his biography and this period to be too fateful for the history of the country.

5 candidates – Stepan Demirchyan, Aram Karapetyan, Paruyr Hayrikyan, Artashes Geghamyan and Robert Kocharyan , have already been proposed for the presidential elections.
