DASHNAKTSUTYUN TO SECOND KOCHARYAN

As a result of 2-day-long discussion Dashnaktsutyun made a decision to second president Robert Kocharyan in the coming presidential elections .

4 versions for strategy were discussed. to second the present president, to watch the Opposition actions, to appear with own candidate or to remain neutral .

According to Dashnaktsutyun representative Armen Rustamyan, almost an unanimous decision was made to back up Kocharyan’s candidature .

Rumours spread as if mainly Diaspora structures have been against the above decision.

Aghvan Vardanyan informed those structures on the whole were for the decision. But he also added the decision to be made by the Armenia’s body and Diaspora representatives have been introduced to the meeting as guests.

Backing up Kocharyan’s candidature, Dashnaktsutyun fixes all the things done to establish a really social and economic public are not enough .

It is necessary to prevent both corruption and seamy economy. An organised struggle is to be arranged to justly redistribute results of economic growth and to reduce social inequality. In other words, Dashnaktsutyun is not pleased with the social and economic condition of the country. It just seconds Kocharyan, proceeding from alignment of forces in the field and apprehension for their stances to become weakened if new Authorities are formed .

“Will Dashnaktsutyun register Kocharyan as its own candidate if the present president is not nominated under the social initiative?” , we asked Armen Rustamyan. “I think he will be proposed under the social initiative. But if he’s not, there is enough time till December 6 and we will hold one more meeting to discuss it” .

Dashnaktsutyun announced, by backing Kocharyan it assumes responsibility to be the political support for the president .

Talking about the statement by Aghassi Arshakyan on the version if Dashnaktsutyun seconds Kocharyan’s candidature, they’ll have to clear Armenia from not only Kocharyan but also Dashnaks, Rustamyan announced: “Many tried to free Armenia from Dasknaks but no one managed to do that” .
