KARABAKHI CITIZENS VOTING IN ARMENIA

Politics

Temporarily living in Armenia Nagorno-Karabakhi citizens took part in Karabakhi presidential elections held Sunday. Polling station at Nagorno-Karabakhi representative office in Yerevan has being opened from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. local time.

Argine Davtyan, the head of the polling station, said 242 Karabakhi citizens aged from 18 to 81 were registered to vote at the station. University entrants and Karabakhi citizens staying in Armenia for summer rest also participated in the election at this polling station. Many of them didn’t suppress that they have cast their votes for Arkadi Ghukasyan.

There are 4 candidates for presidency in the election: the president-in-office Arkadi Ghukasyan, the leader of Karabakhi Christian-Democratic party Albert Ghazaryan, lecturer of Artsakh State University Arthur Tovmasyan and co-chair of public- political organisation Grigori Afanesyan.

Nagorno-Karabakh republic’s citizens say they don’t attach any importance to international community opinion. “It is important that we ourselves recognise our independence”, they say. It is remarkable that the election at polling station N100 was held in absence of international observers because of their refusal to watch the election process.
