AMENDMENTS UPON ELECTION LAW CODE WERE APPROVED AT THE FIRST READING EXCEPT FOR THE 23-RD ARTICLE
Support A1+!Out of turn session of Parliament lasted for 3 hours today. Deputies managed to discuss and study 17 issues.
It was expected that the opposition parties would start a quarrel with the Parliamentary majority before voting on changes and amendments upon Election Law Code. Vardan Bostanjyan representing the issue had said that the 23-rd article on Election Law Code won't be voted for or against before its second reading. Then Parliament Vice-Speaker Tigran Torosyan asserted that Mr. Bostanjyan had commited an error and was going to retreat from his pledge before the voting.
But Parliament speaker Armen Khachatryan prevented the quarrels. He brought the bill on making changes upon the Election Law Code to a vote without the 23-rd article. The bill was passed by the first reading. Vardan Bostanjyan didn't apologized for the step made. Because of having asserted his standpoint he has been deprived of the right to represent Parliamentary majority' initiative by the second reading. Mr. Torosyan informs that changes and amendments upon Election Law Code will henceforth be represented by Gagik Melikyan, the member of Armenia Republican Party. Parliament Vice-Speaker also says that the article on Election Commitees is to be voted on twice. The following order for commitees forming is to be represented: Parliament groups' representatives plus 3 representatives of Armenian president.
