P.S. Retro: The period of counterfeit vodka and buckets of petrol is gone (video)
In the 1990s, Ghukas Mehrabyan was responsible for complying everything with the latest international standards. The products made in independent Armenia were to be taken to the international market. Butter manufacturers were to be guided by international standards, rather than by their own. At the beginning of the 1990s, there was no product in Armenia that would comply with international standards. Ghukas Mehrabyan says production standards were too high in the Soviet Union. In those years, manufacturers made and distributed large quantities of counterfeit vodka in Armenia. Prime Minister Armen Darbinyan even called on everyone to fight against fake alcohol production. Ghukas Mehrabyan says manufacturers simply did not consider themselves responsible for it. In the Soviet period, petrol was sold in buckets. Ghukas Mehrabyan said the problem would be solved soon. It was really solved when Mr. Mehrabyan was still in office. Levon Ter-Petrosyan's teammate was dismissed in 1999. He died several days later on November 26.
