Garnik Isagulyan comments on Samvel Babayan's statements (video)
After the four-day war in Karabakh many feared that the Armenian side might make territorial concessions on Artsakh, but the extensive work underway in Artsakh speaks to the opposite fact, says the chairman of the National Security Party. Recently, Garnik Isagulyan visited Nagorno Karabakh Republic. He was accompanied by a group of public and political figures from Yerevan. “Never believe [the rumours] that we are going to cede anything. I did not perceive such moods in Karabakh. All those conversations in Armenia are aimed at speculating the idea that we are ready to make concessions and some people simply try to gain dividends,” Mr. Isagulyan said. He advises people spreading such rumours to think of inhabiting Artsakh. Isagulyan says the repair of the roadway leading to Artsakh has been finished. “You will not find such a road on the territory of Armenia,” he stressed. He says there are many good things in Artsakh, and the Republic of Armenia has a lot to learn from them. “You will be surprised to know about the good relationship between the president and people.” Isagulyan says no changes are possible in the process of the Karabakh conflict settlement. “Elections will be held in both countries in the near future.” Talking to Azatutyun radio station, Samvel Babayan, a former defense minister of Artsakh, expressed his disagreement with the dismissal of [Armenian Defense Minister] Seyran Ohanyan, saying Armenia still needs a “military” minister. “Overloading a person with so much work can have a negative impact. Yes, defense minister’s post is a civil post and all military tasks are carried out by the General Staff, therefore I agree with Vigen Sargsyan's appointment,” Isaghulyan said. Samvel Babayan also spoke about the possibility of full-scale war. “Azerbaijan has always talked about war but will not wage war unless it is sure of its victory. I think the Arskah army will give a preventive blow to Azerbaijan if the latter decides to declare war on Artsakh,” Isagulyan said in conclusion.
