Court dismissed civil activist's appeal

The Criminal Court of Appeal decided not to examine the complaint of the civic activist Vardges Gaspari. Lawyer David Gyurjyan says while explaining the reasons for its decision, the Court said they had missed a deadline. “The Court shows an arbitrary approach contrary to its practice. In many cases, decisions are received later than the fixed period of 5 days and we submit a new complaint within a month after the date of receipt,” the lawyer said. David Gyurjyan is going to appeal the decision in a higher court. a Yerevan court found civil activist Vardges Gaspari guilty of insulting police officers and a judge, as well as of obstructing court hearings and fined him in the amount of AMD 450 000. The prosecutor had filed a motion to fine Gaspari in the amount of AMD 400 000.
