Which was the main lesson of the passing year for Republican lawmakers? (video)
Ruzan Muradyan, a lawmaker of the ruling Republican Party of Armenia (HHK) likes to give lessons. As a former teacher, she says the best lesson for her was her speech addressed to Heritage Party MP Zaruhi Postanjyan. “I made quotations from Narekatsi in the National Assembly, and my speech was addressed to each of us,” she says. The Republican lawmaker pinned great hopes on the new Constitution. At the same time she boasts that among the female MPs, only her proposals were included in the draft. Naira Karapetyan, another Republican lawmaker, says in 2015 she drew to an important conclusion after the birth of her daughter. “Everything that we do outside our homes, in our everyday activities, we do for our families,” she said. Although the HHK lawmaker was taken aback at the price of electricity when she went to pay the bill, she believes that Armenians will not have more unpleasant surprises in the coming year. “Ordinary citizens should be convinced that the 2.2 percent economic growth does not imply a bad life, but it means a stable life. People should know that they are not cheated and promised mountains of gold and then in the middle of the year taken unawares by the increase in utility tariffs,” she said. Hermine Naghdalyan, Vice-Speaker of the National Assembly, has great expectations for the coming year. “I have a habit of assessing the good and the bad of the passing day and I really want to believe that good things have been more than bad ones. I wish every family could do the same thing and understand [during comparison] that the good always exceeds the bad,” she said. The Republican MPs believe that the changed Constitution will bring progress in 2016.
