The condition of private universities is very bad this year. “There are 35 private universities, but only 8-9 universities have entrants,” Director of Assessment and Testing Center Gagik Melikyan told the journalists. He says that parents and entrants prefer applying to the state universities, as the fee is the same. Gagik Melikyan today has summed up the preliminary results of the first round of the unified exams. 11833 entrants participated in the first round of the exams, which has been reduced by 500 compared with last year. Most of the entrants are from Yerevan, 3347, and the least entrants are again from Vayots Dzor marz, 237. Most of the entrants passed the exam of the Armenian language and no student passed the exams of Italian and Persian. 1088 entrants were absent from the first round of the exams. By the way, this year 6 entrants were removed from examination room for having mobile phones. Director of Assessment and Testing Center reminds that these students cannot take part in the second round of the exams, which will take place on July 2-8. According to his words, one entrant had a WIFI device, and another had a special device, with the help of which the entrant could both speak and receive information from outside. The exams will be over on July 8, and the final summery of the results will be on July 15.
