No one from the Republicans is ashamed that senior officials make their sons, sons-in-law or brothers mayors and deputies: “The Republicans aren’t ashamed, as at the elections the people vote for the republican candidates,” says the NA HHK faction secretary Gagik Melikyan. Ruben Hovsepyan is brother of Aghvan Hovsepyan, former Prosecutor General and Head of Armenia’s Investigative Committee. He wonders, what has happened? “If a person is deserving, it doesn’t matter whether he is a son of a senior official,” notes HHK faction member. Robert Sargsyan is brother-in-law of Mayor Taron Margaryan and Taron Margaryan is the son of deceased Prime Minister Andranik Margaryan. He says confidently, let the others become a mayor or a deputy: “Are they elected with money? Who says? Who is Hovik Abrahamyan’s son to be elected a mayor? Why? He is a very good boy,” says HHK faction member Robert Sargsyan. Brother-in-law excited about the fact that Prime Minister’s son became a mayor sees nothing terrible that finally that boy became a mayor without competitors. Businessman deputy Samvel Alexanyan, whose son-in-law is also a deputy, also expresses his excitement: “No, why is it a shame?” Gagik Tsarukyan’s in-law Murad Guloyan’s son was Mayor of Abovyan and about three months ago he became Kotayk marzpet. Now it’s turn of Hovik Abrahamyan’s son: “Besides being a son of Prime Minister, what advantages does he have? –Time will tell. – Besides being your son, which were the advantages of your son that he became a marzpet? – The advantages of my son… You can visit Abovyan city and see yourself. – Maybe because he was son-in-law of Tsarukyan? – Of course, no,” explains Murad Guloyan. Mher Sedrakyan was the only one who wouldn’t like his son had any position in Armenia: “May your son become a mayor? – No. No. – Are you sure? Why are you answering instead of your son? – I know. – Won’t you let him? – I won’t let.”
