Official reception held in Vatican in honor of His Holiness Karekin II
Armenian Ambassador to Vatican Mikael Minasyan hosted Wednesday an official dinner in honor of Catholicos Karekin II. The ceremony began with a patriarchal blessing. Ambassador Minasyan greeted the guests, highlighting the importance of the friendly visit. His Holiness Karekin II expressed his appreciation to the Ambassador for initiating the event and commended his outstanding contribution to the strengthening of friendship and close relations between Armenian and Catholic churches. Then he spoke about historical facts and said Armenian communities scattered in different corners of the world in the wake of the early 20th century Genocide in the Ottoman Empire today bridge different countries and peoples. “The 100th anniversary is a challenge to nations and states to condemn the Armenian Genocide and speed up efforts for the sake of establishing justice and peace around the world,” he said. Karekin II thanked all the countries, international organizations and sister churches which have recognized and condemned the Armenian Genocide.
