Nikol Pashinyan receives delegation led by UN Under-Secretary-General Rosemary DiCarlo (video)

Prime Minister of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan received the delegation led by UN Under-Secretary-General for Political and Peacebuilding Affairs Rosemary DiCarlo.

Pashinyan welcomed Mrs. DiCarlo’s visit to Armenia and highlighted the close cooperation between the Armenian government and the UN in different areas. In particular, the PM highly valued the UN support to the ongoing institutional reforms in Armenia’s various areas, including the changes in the Electoral Code. Pashinyan highlighted making such reforms in the Electoral Code that will guarantee holding free and transparent elections. He said the Armenian government is committed to consistently move forward the reforms aimed at developing and strengthening the democracy in the country.

In her turn the UN Under-Secretary-General welcomed the ongoing democratic reforms in Armenia and emphasized the readiness of the UN to closely cooperate with the Armenian government. Rosemary DiCarlo congratulated the PM on Armenia’s election as member to the Human Rights Council, wishing success to the Armenian partners.

During the meeting the sides discussed various issues relating to the bilateral cooperation program. The Armenian PM and the UN Under-Secretary-General also touched upon the settlement process of the Nagorno Karabakh conflict and attached importance to the formation of a favorable environment, pushing forward the negotiations based on mutual trust. The sides exchanged views on other regional security issues.
