Demodex cases in Shirak province
Seventy percent of world's population is suffering from Demodicosis. Demodicosis, also called demodectic mange or red mange, is caused by a sensitivity to and overpopulation of Demodex canis as the animal's immune system is unable to keep the mites under control.
Demodex mites are common among many people. In fact, 97% of individuals have it on the surface of their skin. There are many infected people in Armenia's Shirak province as well.
The disease may be transmitted from person-to-person through direct contact. The disease can be treated, say specialists.
