145 scientists to meet in Yerevan
In October 2013, Yerevan will host the symposium of the International Astronomical Union which will bring together 145 scholars from 32 countries.
This is an unprecedented event in the history of the scientific events held in Armenia, the Armenian Astronomical Society (ArAS) reports.
The symposium is devoted to the 100th anniversary of Armenian astronomer Benjamin Markarian. It will be held under the topic "Multiwavelength AGN Surveys and Studies."
The event will feature participants from the USA, Germany, Italy, France, Spain, Great Britain, Japan, China, India, Canada, Australia, Russia, Ukraine, Armenia, Argentina, Brazil, Bulgaria, Taiwan, Ireland, Iran, Poland, Colombia, Holland, Greece, Kazakhstan, Malaysia, Mexico, Chile, Portugal, Serbia, Venezuela and Georgia.
Overall, 60 verbal and 100 poster reports will be presented at the symposium. The participants will include well-known astronomers, heads of international organizations and research projects, directors of astronomical observatories and institutes, as well as young astronomers.
Similar symposiums were held in Armenia in 1966, 1986, 1989, 1998, 2001 and 2013.
