Village headman sued for giving election bribe

A criminal case has been filed against the head of Varagavan village of Tavush marz for giving election bribe [in the amount of AMD 5,000] to a resident of his village.

Suren Manucharyan, the resident of Varagavan village, reported to the Police Division of Tavush marz that on February 17, 2013, head of Varagavan village Samvel Manucharyan had given him 5,000 drams in the municipality building, ordering him to vote for the candidate preferred by the Manucharyan.

The criminal case was filed in the Special Investigation Service under Article 1542 (Part 2) of the RA Criminal Code, reports the General Prosecutor's Office.
Investigation is under way.
