MFA responds to Presidents
Statement of RA Minister of Foreign Affairs Edward Nalbandyan on the declaration on the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict adopted in Los-Cabos
We praise the efforts of the leaders of the OSCE Minsk Group Co-Chairing countries (Russia, the United States and France) aimed at settling the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict.
The declaration adopted by Presidents Vladimir Putin, Barack Obama and Francois Hollande in Los-Cabos is the fourth declaration of the leaders of the co-chairing countries on the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict that may serve as an impetus for progress in the negotiations.
Armenia is united and determined to reach an exclusively peaceful settlement of the conflict with the co-chairing countries.
Like Russia, the United States and France, Armenia also regrets that, despite the call in the declaration adopted on May 26, 2011 in Deauville, progress wasn't made at the June 24 summit in Kazan due to Azerbaijan's destructive, maximalist position.
Armenia, staying true to the agreements that have been reached and are in the declaration adopted by the Presidents of Russia, Armenia and Azerbaijan in Sochi on January 23, 2012, will continue its efforts to reach an agreement on the Basic Principles for the conflict resolution.
Like the co-chairing countries, Armenia has also made several calls on respecting the ceasefire agreement signed in May 1994 and refraining from the belligerent, hostile rhetoric that creates tension. Unlike Armenia, Azerbaijan has denied and continues to deny the co-chairing countries' proposals for reinforcement of the ceasefire regime, that is, dislocation of snipers from the line of contact, as well as the creation of a mechanism to investigate the ceasefire violations and incidents. Azerbaijan's last attack took place during the OSCE Chairman-in-Office visit to Baku last week. Azerbaijan not only rejects those proposals, but also coarsely violates the ceasefire regime and continues with the provocations.
Unlike Azerbaijan, Armenia has declared several times that it is ready to continue the negotiations in L'Aquila, Muskoka and Deauville and, I can also add, reach the conflict resolution based on the declarations adopted by the leaders of the co-chairing countries in Los-Cabos.
