Nikoyan meets Prescott
On January 17, Chairman of the RA National Assembly Samvel Nikoyan received Co-Rapporteur on Armenia of the PACE Monitoring Committee John Prescott.
The NA Chairman highly appreciated the role of the Council of Europe in the reforms taking place in Armenia and the cooperation with that European organization.
John Prescott mentioned that Armenia has registered notable progress in ensuring inter-political stability and attached importance to the role of the National Assembly in that process.
Touching upon the upcoming parliamentary elections, Prescott said the issue of how the elections would be held was not within the limits of his competence. According to Prescott, the amendments to the electoral code are impressive, and the reforms in the legal-juridical system are promising.
