Nalbandyan meets OSCE Chairman-in-Office
Armenian and Lithuanian Foreign Ministers Edward Nalbandyan and Audronius Azhubalis participated in the official opening of the Armenian Embassy in Lithuania, which was held in Vilnius and attended by Members of the Parliament of Lithuania, high-ranking MFA officials and members of the local Armenian community.
Among speakers were the Armenian and Lithuanian Foreign Ministers and the Armenian Ambassador to Lithuania.
Edward Nalbandyan congratulated the Lithuanian-Armenian community on the opening of the embassy and voiced hope that the Lithuanian-Armenians would contribute to the development of Armenian-Lithuanian relations with new vigor.
In his speech, the Lithuanian Foreign Minister recalled Armenian-Lithuanian historical ties and mentioned that the establishment of an Armenian Embassy would turn a new page in the friendly bilateral ties and that the Lithuanian government would do its best to support the embassy's activities.
Armenian Ambassador to Lithuania Ara Ayvazyan raised the Armenian state flag to the sounds of the Armenian national anthem.
Then, the foreign ministers opened the plaque of the Armenian Embassy that signaled the establishment of the diplomatic representation.
The opening ceremony was followed by Edward Nalbandyan's meeting with Lithuanian Foreign Minister, OSCE Chairman-in-Office Audronius Azhubalis.
Greeting Edward Nalbandyan, Azhubalis mentioned that he was pleased to see his Armenian counterpart on the occasion of the official opening of the Armenian Embassy in Vilnius. The foreign ministers discussed issues related to the development of bilateral ties, including cooperation in trade, economy, as well as cultural cooperation and cooperation between the parliaments of both countries.
During the meeting, issues related to the meeting of the ministerial council to be held in Vilnius on December 6-7 along the lines of the OSCE Lithuanian presidency were discussed. Audronius Azhubalis praised Armenia's contribution to the OSCE's activities and especially underlined Armenia's constructive involvement within the organization's structures.
Edward Nalbandyan presented the latest developments of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict resolution and the proposals for the OSCE Minsk Group Co-Chairs' visit to the region next week.
The sides also touched upon issues related to bilateral cooperation within international organizations.
