Major landslide and landfall in Armenia

Thirty-five vehicles were trapped in landslide that hit the 83rd km of Vanadzor-Bagratashen highway, near the Georgian border October 2.

The traffic at the highway near the Ayrum railway station was closed on Sunday as a result of the landslide which blocked the traffic, making the road impassable.

By the order of Prime Minister, an emergency headquarters has been set up to specify the circumstances. Measures are being taken to assist passengers in the landslide area.

Police officers, firefighters, ambulance workers and employees from the Ministry of Emergency situations and Ministry of Health are working on the site.

According to preliminary data, seven people were slightly injured as a result of the natural calamity.
