Armenia is in the hands of 30 families
Economist Movses Aristakesyan says Armenia's independence cannot be negotiable and calls on everyone to duly appreciate the economic system that emerged during the years of independence.
"Unfortunately, the revival of 1991, which could lead to a strong and prosperous country, was immediately stopped. The vicious system of the last 10-12 years turned into a criminal-oligarchic system, which did not differ from the system of the Soviet era. The only difefernce is that our economy is in the hands of 30 families," he said.
The economist says in the Soviet years people received high-quality education, free treatment while today the inalienable rights of people are violated at every step. Movses Aristakesyan does not share the opinion that the foundation for this flawed economic system was laid by Armenia's first authorities.
"At that time, there were numerous objective reasons: the economy was destroyed by an earthquake, and the country was blockaded. All ties were broken after the collapse of the Soviet Union. Bedside, the humanitarian aid sent to Armenia was robbed in Georgia and Azerbaijan.
Armenia could boost its economy given the great human and industrial potential. Unfortunately, in some cases, privatization was inevitable which was followed by the arrival of the Karabakh clan in 1998."
Movses Aristakesyan excludes the development of Armenian economy during the acting authorities.
"Disappointment reigns not only in Armenia but also in the NKR. We have no objective reasons to believe that these authorities can achieve economic development," he concluded.
