EACH SCIENTIST IN ARMENIA GRANTED 5000 $
Support A1+!27 scientific topics will be funded through the grants by Armenian Relief Fund of USA in 2003 . Armenian National Fund of Science and Education has been granting 5000 $ to each scientist in Armenia to carry out studies for the third year.
Number of those making applications within ARF program for scientific grants increases year by year. 80 scientists and scientific groups made applications in 2001 . Number of them has made 293 this year.
It’s to be stated the sum is not enough to carry out basic research works .
According to Slavik Melkonyan, Candidate for physical and mathematical sciences, they can’t carry the research through but they may have a chance to implement test works .
Fadey Sargssyan, Chair of Science National Academy of Armenia, thanked ARF for support, saying it’s important that science is supported rather than what means are given .
He also said development of Armenia is impossible without science.
ARF representatives informed that ” there are many topics deserving of support but they were unable to fund more”.
