COUNTRY FOR SALE... AT BARGAIN PRICE

Social

Some participants of “Obstacles to Building and Development of the Country Economy” round table, held by Armenian Centre on Strategic and National Researches, find business in Armenia should run by specialists or specialised companies. Such an opinion is arose after Deputy Minister of State Property Mikael Melkumyan spoke about sale of Yerevan’s “Almast” factory. Round table participants surprised by recent media report, stating the factory sold by Armenian president Robert Kocharyan. Why the president engages in such kind of activity while there are appropriate bodies for that?

Melkumyan, being unhappy about such a question, answer that first of all above mentioned president’s actions are permitted by law and, besides, the president acted in the best interests of the country. It is still unclear what an advantage the government gained from this sale.
