MINISTRY OF SCIENCE AND EDUCATION TAKES STEPS TO REDUCE EDUCATIONAL INSTITUTION NUMBER
Support A1+!As a result of licensing campaign run by Ministry of Science and Education, 72 out of 90 private high-education institutions, including branches of offshore institutions, function today in Armenia.
However, the ministry found the figure too great for educational system of the republic. It’ll be possible to reduce the number after studying the results of final exams at the private institutions. Under the licensing law, any private educational institution can be stripped of license if its students’ educational level hasn't been fit to due standards for two consecutive years. It is impossible to divest the institution of its license taking into account only final exams, Deputy Minister of Science and Education Ara Avetisyan says. Therefore test should be held. Unsatisfactory results of final exams are to be discussed at the sitting of proper board and commissions. Only after that, it will be decided how many institutions should be stripped of their licenses.
