CITIZENS AGAINST LIMITATIONS
Support A1+!“If I want to complain about the President of my country, so why should I ask the city administration for permission to do it?” Harutyun Margaryan, a resident of Yerevan said. He considers that the law on marches and rallies limits the rights of the citizens. Like 43% of the respondents he considers that people should be free in expressing their will wherever and whenever they want.
The survey was held July 25-29 in Yerevan. 100 people took part in it. In the opinion of 15% permission is essential. “The city authorities should know how many people are going to attend the rally and what they want”, one of them said.
10% of those surveyed found difficulty in answering.
Let us add that Article 26 of the operating constitution allows citizens to conduct peaceful meetings, marches and rallies. To note, Article 44 says, “The fundamental human and civil rights and freedoms established under Articles 23 and 27 of the Constitution may only be restricted by law, if necessary for the protection of state and public security, public order, public health and morality, and the rights, freedoms, honor and reputation of others.”
