THEY DO NOT PLAY FOOTBALL IN STRASBOURGH

Politics

Tigran Torosyan, deputy principal of the RA National Assembly, is more than convinced that there is no need to explain away in front of the Armenian society for the draft resolution about the Karabakh conflict adopted in Strasbourg in PACE session. «They do not play football in Strasbourg in order to win or to lose», says Tigran Torosyan.

The head of the Armenian Delegation has his explanation for the disturbance over the report of David Atkinson and the resolution adopted, “Some people have not understood clearly what exactly the document want s to say”. That is to say, many people have not understood what Mr. Atkinson wants to say. Mr. Torosyan tried to explain the grounds of his optimism, or, by his own words, realism.

”Why do we try to put labels on ourselves? How can we be so self-tormenting?”, says the National Assembly deputy principal, taking into account the fact that there are now clear-cut ideas in Atkinson’s report, whether he means the Armenians or the Azerbaijanis while writing about some events. For example, who did Atkinson mean writing about “the people leaving their homeland by force”?

As for the announcements of Armen Roustamyan, another member of the Armenian delegation to the Euro council, that the resolution adopted will hinder the work in the Minsk group, Tigran Torosyan claims, “The resolution cannot have any effect on it. This resolution does not and cannot offer any settlement of the conflict. The documents makes sure once more that the settlement can be achieved only within the frames of the Minsk group”.
