In 1992 the Armenian Defense Ministry declared January 28 the Day of Armenian Army. On that day Armenian President Levon Ter-Petrosian issued a decree on the appointment of Vazgen Sargsian the first Military Minister, who had put his signature to his first resolution on the same day.

After 13 years since the formation of the Armenian Army, when the warlike statements the neighbor state become more frequent, the Armenian society is concerned over one simple question: “Whether the Armenian army is the most efficient in the region?” According to an internet poll carried out by Media.am, 37% of the surveyed said “yes”, 33% - “no”, 30% found difficulty in answering.
