REVOLUTION FAILURE IN AN ARMENIAN MANNER

Politics

Why did “Rose Revolution” succeed in Georgia? How did Ukraine Opposition manage to reach some successes? Why didn’t Armenia manage? The guests of National Press Club have today tried to answer these questions.

According to Albert Bazeyan, the reason was that the force structures both in Georgia and Ukraine were neutral while Defence Ministry Board of Armenia appeared with a statement condemning the activity of Opposition. Armenian Defence Minister was not neutral. Moreover, he led the headquarters of Robert Kocharyan. TV Companies weren’t free and the Armenian Opposition couldn’t come to terms over the joint candidate unlike Georgia and Ukraine. He also stated that neither people nor Opposition leaders were ready for bloodshed.

Ruzan Khachatryan, member of “People’s Party of Armenia” thinks the situations don’t differ much. “Ukrainians as well passed the way we did. They have appealed to the Supreme Court like we applied to the Constitutional one. They are just more law-abiding and will fulfil Court decision”.

A journalist asked why Opposition leader Stepan Demirchyan couldn’t carry the revolutionary situation through up to a revolution. “Can one person carry out a revolution?”, Khachatryan posed a question instead the answer.

Karapet Hakobyan, “People’s Party” representative thinks, revolution will take place if it has matured, no matter who leads it.
