JOURNALIST VERONICA CHERKASOVA KILLED IN MINSK
Support A1+!Well-known journalist Veronica Cherkasova was murdered in Minsk. She was found in her apartment. The sources in Byelorussian law-enforcement inform about 20 knife stabs were on her corpse. The same source also says that the metallic door of the apartment wasn’t broken and nothing was stolen, under the preliminary information.
After the referendum conducted for prolongation of President’s commissions the state in Byelorussia remains tense. USA applied sanctions towards Byelorussia. The document signed by George Bush says the recent parliamentary elections and the referendum were conducted in the climate of pressure and menace. European Union announced that the parliamentary elections fell short of the international standards of democracy.
The sanctions will be applied until USA President proves to the appropriate committees of Congress that Byelorussia Government progressed. In particular, the American part has demanded to release the political prisoners, to stop the criminal pursuits of Opposition figures and to publish the circumstances of disappearance of some Opposition and Media representatives.
