PROGRESSIVE PARTY GIVES PRESS CONFERENCE

Politics

Sargis Harutyunyan, a member of newly founded pro-governmental Progressive Party, speaking Tuesday at a news conference on behalf of his fellow partisans, said “our MPs are elected representatives of the people and they have to behave well”. He also said “out-of-parliament forces must influence parliamentary forces”.

Expressing his opinion about the scandalous quarrel happened recently in Armenian parliament between two MPs with mutual accusation of homosexuality, he voiced regret at the fact that “homosexuality became the subject of discussion in Armenian community” and offer the MPs that insulted each other that way to be put on trial.

At the same time, Sargis Harutyunyan said if there were evidence of homosexual ministers, they should be made public.

After speaking about the incident in parliament, Harutyunyan shifted his attention to the PACE fall session held last week in Strasbourg and welcomed joint work done by governing and opposition parties’ MPs at the session.
