JAN PETERSON ANXIOUS FOR SOUTH CAUCASUS
Support A1+!Jan Peterson, Secretary of CE Ministerial Board has made a speech. Mr. Peterson stated that he was anxious for the problems in 3 states of Southern Caucasus. The results of Ago Group monitoring served bases for Petersons’ alarm.
He expressed hope that Ago Group will fix other results a week later. “The situation in Azerbaijan worries me. I welcome the amnesty President Heydar Aliev announced last October resulting in release of a few political prisoners. But steps are necessary to take to continue it”, he said.
Referring to Armenia Mr. Peterson said: “I am interested in Armenia’s CE obligations on legislative reforms and the process of peaceful settlement of Karabakhi conflict. In the latter I welcome the efforts taken by both parts”.
Talking about Georgia Mr. Peterson underlined South Ossetia as problematic issue.
