PROFESSOR GEGHAMYAN: ARMENIA FACES HARDSHIP BECAUSE OF WRONG POLICY

Politics

Professor Gurgen Geghamyan, speaking Monday in National Library on Armenia’s independence, said Armenia had found itself in a hard situation because of the wrong policy the republic’s authorities pursue.

In his opinion, Armenia’s independence started from two serious errors -closure of Nairit Chemical Plant and Metsamor Nuclear Power Plant – having strategic significance for the republic.

Geghamyan says a rich legacy was left after the USSR collapse, and new authorities’ motto is “the worth the better”.

In his words, the country’s top concern is long-running transition being hobbled by wrong policy.

Among positive changes he pointed out the fact that the republic has become the center uniting Armenians worldwide. If normal conditions are created in the country all Armenians will wish to live here, he said.
